Ford raise Lightning price but still way cheaper than Competition and the only truck rebate approved

01.03.2024

Ford raised Lightning prices...

- Pro 240m is now $55k, up $5k.

- XLT 240m is now $65k, up $10k.

- Flash 320m is $74k, a new trim.

- Lariat 320m is now $80k, up $2k.

- Platinum 300m is $85k, down $7k.

- Platinum Black 300m is $92k, down $5k.

However, all trims now include $1400 tow package at no additional cost.

Ford is struggling compared to its original plans.

Ford reduced production plans of 160k trucks in 2024 to 80k.

They lost probably all 200k reservations they had while only 40k sold total since launched in May 2022.

Ford still has some huge advantages right now in the EV pickup market, although it does not seem to translate to sales and they are limited in time ...

- They are the best selling EV truck doubling Rivian R1T.

- They still have a BEV truck at $25.5k less than the cheapest Rivian (after $7500 rebate).

- Ford currently has the only Full BEV truck qualified for full rebate (Rivian is not qualified).

- Tesla CT will be qualified for the full rebate only when price drops to $79k which is expected in a few weeks.

- Even when CT will be $79k and qualified for full $7500 rebate, Ford trims would still be $25k or $15k below the CT after rebate. (Although the specs and range of Pro and XLT with 240m are widely different than the CT LR with 340m).

- Ford Flash with 320m is $6k less than the $79k 340m CT, both after rebate when that CT comes out (but the CT will be on a very long waiting list while Flash seems to be available now).

- CT entry level 250m $61k is only expected in 2025.
