Hertz is bringing 6000 EVs to Orlando alone? Sounds impressive.

Very impressive comeback from near bankruptcy and Stock delisted 2 years ago...

Anyway, Hertz is leading by far over other Car rental fleets, in the switch to EV.

They ordered 100k cars in 2021 from Tesla but so far only got 50k (great for them, now they are much lower price).

They also ordered 65k EVs over 5 years from Polstar, however, Polstar only delivered 51.5k EVs in 2022 overall and just lowered 2023 guidance to 60-70k.

Hertz also ordered 175k EVs from GM over 5 years, beginning with Bolt in 2023.

Although, GM only delivered 40k EVs overall in 2022, and is discontinuing the Bolt in 2023, which should be 90-95% of GM EV models sold in 2023.

Hertz's US fleet is 430k in January, 11% of those are Tesla.

They also are leading Uber/Lyft programs, including EVs.

They dedicated half of 100k Tesla orders to the Uber program.

Uber/Lyft drivers are offered to rent Hertz cars at $214 per week including Insurance, $334 for a Tesla Model 3 including Insurance. EV rental actually earns a small credit of $1 per ride and a class upgrade to comfort, which should help pay the difference in cost, in addition, to Electric vs Fuel savings.

The minimum driver age for this program is 25, EV rental requires some performance minimum rides and rating. The General Uber Driver requirement does not limit age as long as the driver has a minimum 3 years license.

I have always seen the Tesla 3 and Y as the perfect match for car sharing.

All parties involved could benefit from it...

- Obviously, the manufacturer does.

- The rental company, because of low maintenance, the end of gasoline fueling, the convenience of Electric charging at lots, and now, lower prices, and incentives.

- Uber, enjoys the smoothness of transactions, appeals to drivers, aesthetics, and uniformity of the fleet, possibly dedicated fleet management, driver performance records, FSD capability installed, upgradable at later date, removing eventually the need for a driver party in this transaction.

- Driver, enjoys low maintenance, Joy of experience, low cost of operating, appeal to customers, higher tips, Uber EV incentives, higher Comfort class, Sentry mode (Security).
